Effective from 18 August 2025
Wage thresholds will be updated to reflect the June 2024 median wage of $33.56/hour.
Specifically, this will affect an AEWV work visa application when claiming:
- Exemption from a labour market check or the minimum skills requirement: applicants must earn twice the median wage which will change to $67.12/hour ($33.56*2), instead of $59.32/hour ($29.66*2).
- Maximum 5-year stay for low-skilled roles (levels 4 & 5): applicants must earn 1.5 times the median wage $50.34/hour ($33.56*1.5).
