Important information for Talent Acquisition teams and Recruiters – New Market Rate assessment tools

NEW market rate assessment tools

What is the market rate and why is it important?

When offering a job to a migrant, the salary offered must not be less than the New Zealand market rate for that occupation.  The market rate is the rate of pay required to recruit a New Zealand citizen or residence class visa holder to do the equivalent work.

How are market rates assessed by Immigration New Zealand

When determining whether a market rate requirement is met, an immigration officer will consider factors like, the location of the role, the period of the employment, the training and experience needed to do the job and will use industry salary guides / tools.

Appropriate market rate sources

Immigration officers will now use the Tahatū Career Navigator as their primary source when assessing market rate as part of a job check application.  Other salary guides may be considered too as part of the assessment process.  These are:

1.     Tahatū Career Guide2.     Seek Salary Guide
3.     Hays Salary Guide4.     TradeMe Salary Guide
5.     Federated Farmers Salary Guide6.     Absolute IT Salary Guide
